I find the relationship between Danny and Reuven the most interesting because they seemed to hate each other at first.. when danny went to apologize to reuven, i kinda thought reuven's father had talked danny into going in there and doing what was right. the fact that reuven felt real bad after telling danny to leave and not hearing him out was kinda interesting as well. heck! i know if that was me, i would not have felt bad at all..! AND i also like how danny, after being rejected, came back to try apologizing again.
blah....why was this posted so late!?!?!?! i already forgot like the whole thing!!
:'(
I’m going to have to agree with Elena, and I’m sure everyone else will too. The relationship between Reuven and Danny Saunders is definitely the most interesting in this chapter. It’s the most interesting because, like Elena said, they both hated each other and now they are starting to become friends. What I found weird was that before Danny had even come to the hospital I had a strange feeling he was going to come visit, and the next page I read, there he is. By this time I know Reuven’s traits pretty well and I knew he was going to be stubborn and rude and not let Danny speak to him. When Reuven’s father (who I’m assuming is named David?) came and somewhat scolded Reuven about being rude to Danny and Reuven began feeling depressed, I knew Danny was going to end up coming back. After Danny did come back for a second time, Reuven started off pretty stubborn like I expected but slowly became nicer and allowed Danny to speak, also like I expected. I think Danny actually seems like a good kid and I never really felt a hate towards him like everyone else because I can put myself in the position of hating an opponent/rival and then becoming good friends with them later. This is for sure the start of a major friendship and I know the rest of the book is going to play off of their friendship and how they are different. I predict that Danny’s father may not allow them to be friends or something like that…we’ll see.
I didn't really have much to say about this...
So yeah I totally agree with Elena and John on this one. The relationship developing between Reuven and Danny is the most interesting because of the huge change that had to take place for them even be able to speak to one another. Several times in the book Reuven has professed to hating Danny Saunders, and Danny confessed to Reuven that he had "wanted to kill him." The fact that these young boys were able to put aside their initial feelings and start to become friends is, in my opinion, quite amazing. Once a person forms an opinion about a person it is quite difficult to change their views. Also interesting is the relationship that Reuven has with his father, David. In this chapter, you get to observe the great respect that Reuven has for his father, but you can also see that, as evidenced by their conversation about Danny, he views him as his friend and confidant as well. That's all i got. Laters
i would most likely find the relationship between danny and reuven the bigger relationship mainly because of the problem. it seems as if they hat each other at first but then danny goes in and apologizes. im not really sure if reuvens dad had something to do with it mainly because ive been in that situation and its pretty difficult to go through. i know there are more relationships but this one is the more interesting relationship
Well, I think the most interesting relationship would have to be between Reuven and Danny Saunders, because well he hated him, and Danny wanted to kill Reuven. It was a big surprise when Danny Saunders got to the hospital, and then he even came back the next day because he wanted to talk to him, he wanted to tell him the truth. I thought that was actually very nice of him. it was very surprising. I really don't think that at first reuven's father made him go, but when reuven told him that danny saunders had come and told him the way he treated him, maybe reuven's father did call danny and tell him to go back and talk to him. but i don't know for sure... But the relationship that is starting between the two is very surprising and interesting. i'm very happy that danny saunders came to apologize. and then he even said he would be back the next day, like it was going to be a regular thing. i'm seeing now that these two can be really good friends. they even started calling eachother by their first names; so i'm really happy, i liked this chapter very much, and reuven and danny's relationship was the most interesting to me.
oops, i was supposed to do this before 8:30, sorry! i still did it anyways!
ok way to post this up all late i totally thought you had just forgot way to go! anyways... i think the relationship between Danny and Reuven is the most interesting because Reuven totally hates Danny and Danny tries to talk to Reuven but Reuven doesnt want to talk to him; he ends up just yelling at him. the most interesting part of their relationship is that fact that they become friends. The way that Reuvens dad want them to be "friends" because who knows why, so it makes you wonder why he wants them to be friends so much...
I really like this chapter because it shows on how Danny and Reuven are starting to put aside their differences and becoming friends. It is kind of like when you meet a person and you make up a opinion on them but once you get to know them you know a whole different side than what you expected. I was kind of surprise when Danny apologize at first because of his character. I thought the same thing as Elena that Reuven's father had told Danny straight up his wrongs and what to do to set things right. It took 2 tries to get things right between them but better late than never. I have a feeling that the rest of book is going to be based on their friendship and probably a crazy adventure. I can't wait to get to the next chapter
I think that the most interesting realtionship in this chapter, and I think that just about everyone can agree with me on this one, was the relationship that is slowly developing between Danny Saunders and Reuven Malter. These two boys started off their relationship wanted to kill each other, at least that's how Danny Saunders put it, saying that he wanted to go and kill Reuven with his baseball bat. It was hard at first for these two to even start having a normal conversation with each other, since Reuven Malter did not even want to give Danny Saunders. But really who can blame him, if someone hit me in the face with a basebal and practically blind me I would not want to talk to that person either. But once they finally got over their stupid arguments and set aside their differences they found out alot about each other. They learned about their different religions, what they want to do when they get older, and what makes them both such really great baseball players. I think the differences that lead these two boys to hate each other so much, will suddenly bring them close together as friends.
I do have to agree with everyone else about the most interesting relationship being between Reuven and Danny. Though that was to be expected because it is the main interaction we will be seeing in the book. I think that Reuven reacted appropriately when Danny went to see him the first time. I know I wouldn't want to see, speak to, or listen to the guy that tried to murder me with a baseball. The fact that he let him talk to him the next day, or the fact that Danny came back the next day, really surprised me actually. The way they talked that second meeting was like the way a couple of really good friends talk to each other. The relationship between Reuven and his father is like any other normal father-son relationship. I am curious as to why Danny gets the distant glassy eyes when he was talking about his father. I get the picture of some kind of abuse, be it mental or physical. His father gives me the picture of someone who wants his son to be the best no matter what. This chapter left me wanting to know about Danny and his father.
I think Reuven and Danny's relationship is intresting because at first things in the relationship were rocky. Reuven was filled with hatred and anger when Danny came to see him. However, once Reuven talked with his dad about the visit, he realized how harsh he was to Danny and when he came back to see him, Reuven and him began to talk on first name basis. Things went from rocky to more comfortable. They actually have things in common, well its more like irony. (even though they wanted to kill each other). The two of them are of course Jewish with fathers who are religious men. What is ironic is that Danny wants to be a psycholgist but he comes from a family of rabbis. So he basically is forced into his future profession. Reuven on the other hand wants to be a rabbi but a non Hasidic style of a rabbi. He wants to help people who have problems. Reuven can be anything he wants to be and yet he's chosing to be a rabbi which is the opposite of Danny's choice.
Well so far this book has been intresting. This chapter had a lot of dialog and things sometimes got confusing.
Elena, congrats on being first… just wanted to get it over with huh? I would have liked for you to have expanded a little more on the relationship in your answer. John, you must be psycho… I mean a sidekick…. I mean you can tell me stuff before it happens. You’re right about the rest of the book centering on their friendship… of course that’s given away on the back of the book. Who is this mysterious Yellow Dart? I really wish that, whoever you are, you would focus on one answer and expand on it. What I have are to excellent answers, both lacking in detail. Philip, okay let’s dissect your answer you would “most likely” find, meaning if you were to give an answer it would be this; “because of “the problem””, meaning there is a problem but you don’t know what it is; they “hat” each other, meaning they’re obviously fond of head ware; you’ve been in a similar “situation” but we don’t deserve to know what it is. Need I say more? Ashley, I would have liked to hear more about why you are happy that Danny came back to apologize and that they are seemingly going to become friends, seeing as how you hated Danny a couple of chapters ago. Jack, does the 3335 stand for the 3.335 seconds it took me to read your answer? A little more next time please. Dora, your second sentence was right on… but…. I would liked to have heard more on the topic of first impressions. Katherine, good answer. I don’t have much to add or detract. Edward, okay on the one hand I want to chastise you for not staying on your original topic; but, on the other hand, I want to congratulate you on picking up on the not-so-obvious complexity of Danny’s feelings for his father. Oooops, I guess I just did both. Aly, thank you for pointing out the irony of their situations, it is an important theme that runs throughout the book.
Yeah, yeah, yeah I know it's late.. but honestly, I swear. I forgot my whole email and stuff so I had to send in a request and aol sucks and it took forever and a day to send.
any how, I find the relationship between Reuven and Danny Saunders to be by far the most interesting. I mean, the guy made a shard of glass go into Reuven's eye, some one does that to me and they are on my death list. It's totally unexpected yet some how foreshadowed that he is going to visit the hospital. You want him to come in a way so that maybe savo can't get a punch in his face and have him feel the pain. But it's foreshadowed because Reuven talks about how much he hates Danny and then Reuven's father says that Danny's father called and said Danny felt very bad about what he did but Reuven doesn't believe it. And then, when Danny comes to be the bigger man and apologize for nearly blinding Reuven, reuven shoos him and is blunt and rude. But of course it's all understandable. But then the fact that then HE apologizes to Danny (after his daddy talks to him and then he feels sorry about it)shows that he is trying to level with Danny and maybe be kind and he isn't really that tough of a guy. What I thought was kind of funny was that Danny actually DID want to kill Reuven during the game. Kid's got some nerve, and he didn't even know why!!! But then when he goes into detail about his life you kind of feel bad for the kid in a way. I mean it's cool that he can like remember everything he sees but you have to feel sympathy for him that everyone expects him to take his father's place as rabbi even though that's not what he wants to be. It's like a kid who's parents try to live the life they wish they had through their kids almost. but any how, you see that there will be a bondage between the two and it's ironic because initially they hate each other and wished for death threats upon each other.
